Effects of a Micelle-Based Resveratrol Formula on Brain Growth Support and Nerve Signaling in Healthy Rats

Updated

Abstract

Micellar encapsulation of resveratrol (mRVT) significantly enhances its neurochemical effects compared to pure resveratrol.

  • Both mRVT and pure resveratrol treatments reduced hippocampal acetylcholinesterase activity and elevated acetylcholine levels in the cortex and hippocampus.
  • mRVT treatment produced a more pronounced increase in acetylcholine levels in the hippocampus compared to pure resveratrol.
  • Compared to pure resveratrol, mRVT led to greater increases in noradrenaline and serotonin levels in both the cortex and hippocampus.
  • Both treatments comparably upregulated brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and phosphorylated cyclic AMP response element-binding protein (pCREB) levels in the cortex.
  • mRVT uniquely reduced cortical lipid peroxidation, an effect not observed with pure resveratrol treatment.
