Interactions between MicroRNAs and Sirtuins as a New Treatment Target for Heart Diseases

Updated

Abstract

Essence

MicroRNA-sirtuin crosstalk is presented as a possible therapeutic and biomarker axis in cardiovascular disease.

Evidence

This review synthesizes studies linking SIRT1, SIRT3, SIRT6, and with oxidative stress, cardiac hypertrophy, atherosclerotic plaque stability, inflammation, mitochondrial function, and CVD biomarkers.

Caveat

The abstract is a mechanistic review and does not report clinical testing of interventions that target microRNA-sirtuin pathways.
