Changes in brain tissue structure in ME/CFS and long COVID measured by advanced imaging

Updated

Abstract

No study has yet combined Diffusion Tensor Imaging and Diffusion Kurtosis Imaging to compare brain tissue microstructural differences between individuals with ME/CFS and long COVID.

  • Both ME/CFS and long COVID share symptoms such as profound fatigue and cognitive impairment.
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging techniques have been used to investigate brain tissue microstructure in these conditions.
  • Diffusion Tensor Imaging and Diffusion Kurtosis Imaging are effective methods for examining brain tissue.
  • Understanding microstructural differences may help clarify the relationship between ME/CFS and long COVID.
