Abdominal rubbing improves metabolism in type 2 diabetic mice through a gut hormone action in the small intestine

Updated

Abstract

Mo-Rubbing abdominal significantly improved body weight, glucose tolerance, and insulin sensitivity in T2DM mice.

  • Effects of Mo-Rubbing abdominal on T2DM were comparable or superior to the drug liraglutide.
  • Marked restoration was observed in serum levels of hemoglobin A1C (HbA1c), insulin, and lipid profiles.
  • RNA sequencing indicated that jejunal tissues showed significant transcriptional changes related to metabolism and stress responses.
  • Mo-Rubbing abdominal enhanced expression of GLP1 and GLP1R in the jejunum and increased downstream effects via IRS1 and AMPK.
  • The technique also downregulated mTOR and regulated genes associated with a reduced risk of certain cancers.
