Mobile App Gratitude Practice and Its Impact on University Students' Mental Well-Being

Updated

Abstract

Out of 120 participants, 56 reported at least moderate symptoms of depression, anxiety, or stress at baseline.

  • Participants with moderate to severe distress experienced significantly lower symptoms of depression, anxiety, and stress after using the gratitude app.
  • No significant improvement was observed in participants with low baseline symptomatology.
  • The frequency of app usage did not correlate with changes in well-being outcomes for either group.
  • Findings suggest that gratitude interventions via smartphone apps may be beneficial for certain university students experiencing psychological distress.
