Cancer Cell Membrane-Coated Nanocarriers Delivering Indoximod and Doxorubicin Together for Enhanced Ovarian Cancer Immunotherapy

Updated

Abstract

The particle size of new liposomes for ovarian cancer therapy is 111.7 ± 2.7 nm.

  • Ovarian cancer often has a high mortality rate due to relapse and drug resistance.
  • Doxorubicin (DOX) can trigger immunogenic cell death, but some tumors may resist this effect due to immunosuppression.
  • Indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase (IDO), found in tumors, can impair T-cell function and contribute to this immunosuppression.
  • Combining the IDO inhibitor indoximod (IND) with DOX may enhance anticancer effects by reversing immunosuppression.
  • The developed liposomes, DOX/IND@cmLPs, showed effective delivery and reduced toxicity, with good drug entrapment efficiency.
  • In mouse models, DOX/IND@cmLPs demonstrated potential for long-lasting tumor suppression and a possible abscopal effect.
