Two mRNA Approaches for Dog Rabies Vaccines: Progress, Challenges, and Potential Use in the Field
Updated
Abstract
Neutralizing antibody geometric mean titers (GMTs) of a new mRNA vaccine candidate, LVRNA001, reached approximately 100 IU/mL through day 125.
- Two-dose regimens of LVRNA001 and ABO1005 provide complete protection in canine challenge models.
- Both mRNA vaccine candidates exceed the WHO threshold of 0.5 IU/mL for neutralizing antibodies.
- LVRNA001 demonstrated a significantly higher GMT compared to an inactivated vaccine (approximately 16 IU/mL).
- Both mRNA candidates elicit Th1-biased immune responses and cross-neutralizing antibodies.
- ABO1005 remains stable at 2-8 °C for 12 months in its lyophilized form.
- saRNA vaccines have shown single-dose protection in mice, but canine data is lacking.
