NAD+ reduces nerve insulation loss in a mouse model of autoimmune brain and spinal cord disease

Updated

Abstract

NAD + supplementation at 250 mg/kg/day alleviated central nervous system demyelination in an experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis model.

  • NAD + reduced neuroinflammation in the treated mice.
  • The supplementation improved clinical disease scores related to EAE.
  • NAD + enhanced the conversion of regulatory T cells into T helper 17 cells.
  • Increased levels of NAD + were associated with elevated expression of the cytokine interleukin 17A.
