People with more negative social ties had faster epigenetic aging and worse health, including inflammation and multimorbidity.

Evidence

This state-representative Indiana social network study linked saliva DNA methylation aging clocks and health outcomes to self-reported 'hasslers,' with each additional hassler associated with about 1.5% faster aging pace and roughly 9 months older biological age.

Caveat

Because this was an observational analysis based on self-reported network ties from one state, it cannot establish causation and may have limited generalizability.
