Isorhapontigenin may protect the brain from inflammation-related damage by affecting immune response pathways

Abstract

Isorhapontigenin (ISO) significantly reduced neuroinflammatory markers and improved cognitive function in a mouse model of Alzheimer's disease.

  • ISO treatment decreased levels of TLR4, RAGE, proinflammatory cytokines, and neurodegenerative markers in LPS-treated mice.
  • LPS exposure increased oxidative stress indicators and decreased synaptic protein levels, indicating neuronal damage.
  • ISO restored levels of Nrf2 and HO-1, and activated p-GSK3&#x3b; signaling, suggesting a protective effect against oxidative damage.
  • Behavioral tests showed that ISO improved cognitive performance in the Morris water maze and Y-maze tests.
  • ISO preserved neuronal and synaptic integrity, providing consistent neuroprotection in BV2 microglial cells.
