1.9% of participants met the strictest criteria for night eating syndrome (NES), while 4.2% met the full criteria for binge eating disorder (BED).

  • 8.9% of participants met NES criteria when using all definitions.
  • 1.4% reported binge eating at least once per week.
  • Self-reported rates of NES and BED were higher than diagnostic interview findings.
  • Participants with NES or BED exhibited significantly more symptoms of depression.
  • Individuals with NES or BED had a greater history of psychological complications compared to those without these disorders.
