Abstract
Activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome contributes to cardiovascular diseases (CVDs).
- Autophagy may help mitigate CVDs by eliminating harmful metabolites.
- NLRP3 inflammasome and autophagy are co-regulated, enhancing autophagic processes and inhibiting inflammasome activity.
- This co-regulation is associated with reduced inflammatory responses in CVD pathophysiology.
- Some pharmacological agents may inhibit NLRP3 inflammasome activity by promoting autophagy, which could improve disease outcomes.
