Frequent Nighttime Urination Is Linked to Biological Age, Not Actual Age

Updated

Abstract

Mean biological age was 78.8 years, significantly older than the mean chronological age of 70.5 years.

  • Nocturia, the need to wake at night to urinate, is a common lower urinary tract symptom.
  • There is significant variability in nocturia experiences among middle-aged and older adults.
  • Biological age, as measured by PhenoAge, is associated with increased nighttime voiding frequency.
  • The median number of nighttime voids reported was 2.
  • Chronological age showed no significant correlation with nighttime voiding frequency.
