Nonrestorative sleep linked to ongoing long-term symptoms after COVID-19 recovery

Updated

Abstract

Essence

Nonrestorative sleep was associated with persistent PASC one year later, unlike other insomnia symptoms.

Evidence

A one-year prospective online cohort followed 559 of 957 adults with baseline PASC and found baseline nonrestorative sleep associated with persistence at follow-up (RR 1.33, 95% CI 1.08-1.64).

Caveat

Attrition, self-reported online data, and the observational design limit causal interpretation of the sleep-PASC relationship.
