Blood from obese mice speeds up cell aging in a common mouse model
Updated
Abstract
Essence
Plasma from obese mice increased tissue and blood-cell markers of senescence and inflammation in healthy recipient mice.
Evidence
This was a C57BL/6 mouse plasma-transfer experiment comparing weekly injections of pooled plasma from obese versus non-obese donors, with adipose tissue and PBMC senescence markers, qRT-PCR inflammatory gene expression, and plasma cytokine assays.
Caveat
The effects were measured in a short preclinical transfer model, and plasma cytokines, body weight, adiposity, and thymus index did not significantly differ.
