Oxyresveratrol reduces growth signals and survival while increasing cell death in normal EGFR lung cancer cells stimulated by EGF

Abstract

Oxyresveratrol (OXY) significantly reduced metabolic activity and cell number in EGF-stimulated lung cancer cells in a dose-dependent manner.

  • OXY increased the proportion of apoptotic cells in A549 and H1299 lung cancer cell lines.
  • The compound selectively diminished EGF-induced AKT signaling without affecting ERK1/2 activation.
  • No measurable changes were observed in EGFR phosphorylation or receptor trafficking dynamics.
  • Findings suggest a mechanism of AKT-selective signaling suppression contributing to reduced cellular fitness in non-small cell lung cancer.
