Long COVID in Children is Linked to Reduced CCR6 in Immune Cells and Immune Imbalance
Updated
Abstract
Essence
In children and young people, long COVID was linked to broad immune dysregulation, weaker anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibodies, and lower neutralizing capacity.
Evidence
This 3-month immune profiling comparison studied PBMC compartments and SARS-CoV-2 antibody responses in 99 children and young people with long COVID versus 18 without, with myeloid CCR6 expression distinguishing groups at 79% accuracy.
Caveat
This was a single post-infection observational comparison with a small control group, so the biomarker signal does not show causation or broader diagnostic performance.
