Long-lasting changes in T cells and early immune system imbalance as possible signs of Long COVID

Updated

Abstract

Essence

Patients who developed Long COVID showed early innate immune differences and later persistent adaptive T cell alterations after hospitalized SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Evidence

This matched cohort immune-profiling study used a 40-marker mass cytometry panel on peripheral blood mononuclear cells during acute infection and three months after hospital discharge.

Caveat

The abstract does not report cohort size or validation in an independent sample, so the proposed biomarkers remain preliminary.
