Using tiny platelet-based carriers to deliver collagen III mRNA for skin renewal

Updated

Abstract

C3-PLH treatment achieved a remarkable 86.5% reduction in wrinkle area on day 21 in a UVB-induced photoaging mouse model.

  • C3-PLH showed a 3.1-fold higher skin retention and extended protein expression to 36 hours without liver leakage.
  • The hybrid treatment drove robust in situ collagen expression in damaged skin.
  • C3-PLH actively cleared harmful reactive oxygen species (ROS) and reduced inflammation by promoting M2 macrophage polarization.
  • Enhanced blood vessel growth was observed with C3-PLH treatment.
  • The treatment activated the TGF-β1/Smad-3 pathway while inhibiting the collagen-destroying enzyme MMP-9.
