Platelet-Coated Resveratrol Nanoparticles May Improve Mitochondrial Problems and Aging in Blood Vessel Cells During Atherosclerosis by Activating FOXM1

Updated

Abstract

PM@RSV NPs significantly reduced plaque area and improved mitochondrial function in atherosclerosis models.

  • PM@RSV NPs enhanced mitochondrial membrane potential and ATP production while reducing harmful reactive oxygen species.
  • The treatment resulted in decreased numbers of senescent endothelial cells, as indicated by lower SA-β-Gal positivity.
  • FOXM1 was upregulated in endothelial cells following treatment with PM@RSV NPs, which may contribute to improved vascular regeneration.
  • PM@RSV NPs preferentially accumulated in injured endothelial cells and atherosclerotic lesions, suggesting targeted delivery.
  • Biosafety assessments showed no adverse effects on endothelial cell viability or major organ function.
