Different shapes of amyloid clumps formed by a SARS-CoV-2 peptide linked to blood cell clumping

Updated

Abstract

S192 peptide amyloid fibrils formed in HFIP exhibited significantly shorter lag-time for aggregation compared to those formed in DMSO.

  • Amyloid fibrils formed from the S192 peptide show polymorphism depending on the solvent used.
  • Different secondary structures of the S192 peptide in HFIP and DMSO were observed through FTIR analysis.
  • Fibrils formed in HFIP displayed higher hemagglutination activity than those formed in DMSO.
  • Rapid amyloid fibril formation in HFIP may be linked to the heterogeneous morphology of the resulting fibrils.
