  • Problematic Internet use (PIU) is associated with an increased risk of suicidal ideation and suicide attempts among Chinese adolescents.
  • After adjusting for control variables, the odds of suicidal ideation increased by 4% for each unit increase in PIU.
  • The odds of suicide attempts increased by 3% for each unit increase in PIU.
  • Sleep disturbance significantly mediates the relationship between PIU and suicidal behavior.
  • There may be a complex interaction between PIU, sleep disturbance, and suicidal behavior.
