Abstract

Five programmed cell death pathways have significant prognostic relevance in colorectal cancer.

  • Autophagy and cuproptosis are notably significant among the identified pathways.
  • Unique and shared expression patterns of PCD-related genes were observed across various cancer types.
  • Stage-specific transitions in PCD pathway activity suggest that their influence on tumor progression may vary over time.
  • Overexpression of nuclear receptor coactivator 4, an autophagy-related gene, is associated with reduced CRC cell migration and invasion, and increased apoptosis.
