  • Programmed cell death (PCD) plays a significant role in OA, particularly affecting chondrocytes and synoviocytes.
  • Several types of PCD, including apoptosis, necroptosis, autophagy, NETosis, pyroptosis, ferroptosis, and cuproptosis, are highlighted in relation to OA.
  • Understanding the regulatory roles of these PCD processes may help identify new treatment targets for OA.
