Abstract

As of May 2024, 57 psilocybin dispensaries were identified in Canada, representing 0.18 dispensaries per 100,000 individuals aged 15 and older.

  • Dispensaries were located in 15 of Canada's 42 major urban cities, accounting for 35.7% of these cities.
  • Approximately 815,628 Canadians, or 2.6% of the population, lived within 1 km of a dispensary.
  • Most dispensaries (61.4%) were part of a chain, and 91.2% had an online presence.
  • Products sold included dried mushrooms (100%), microdosing capsules (97.8%), and psilocybin-infused edibles like chocolate (91.3%) and gummies (93.4%).
  • 86.4% of dispensary websites claimed mental health benefits of psilocybin, while only a few provided relevant health warnings regarding potential risks.
