Abstract

Of the 362 psychoactive mushroom edible exposures identified, 78% were single-substance cases.

  • Polysubstance exposures are associated with a 2.58 times higher odds of medical admission.
  • Confusion and central nervous system depression are linked to increased odds of admission at 3.06 and 2.55, respectively.
  • Polysubstance exposure correlates with a 2.88 times higher likelihood of moderate or worse toxicity.
  • Confusion and central nervous system depression are also associated with higher severity of toxicity, with odds ratios of 3.05 and 4.92, respectively.
  • No deaths were reported from the exposures analyzed.
