Amount of Talk Therapy and Reduction of Depression Symptoms in Psychedelic-Assisted Treatment

Updated

Abstract

Essence

In psychedelic-assisted therapy for depressive symptoms, more preparation therapy was linked to larger symptom reductions, while more integration time or more sessions overall were not.

Evidence

This systematic review and multilevel meta-analysis pooled 12 controlled clinical trials in 733 adults with depressive symptoms receiving classic serotonergic psychedelic-assisted therapy.

Caveat

Most included studies had high risk of bias from ineffective blinding, and the association reflected therapy quantity rather than qualitative or process features.
