Pterostilbene: A natural compound that may slow aging in skin oil and support cells

Updated

Abstract

Pterostilbene increased lipid synthesis by 16% and reduced reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels by 62.43% in UV-damaged sebocytes.

  • Pterostilbene is associated with enhanced lipid synthesis and reduced oxidative stress in UV-exposed sebocytes.
  • Gene expression analysis indicated upregulation of antioxidant genes and downregulation of differentiation-related genes following pterostilbene treatment.
  • In UV-exposed fibroblasts, pterostilbene significantly increased collagen types I and III levels while decreasing ROS by 40.07%.
  • High-resolution microscopy revealed that pterostilbene restored the distribution of F-actin in fibroblasts affected by UVA.
