Essence

Putrescine appears to act as a metabolic checkpoint in replication stress-induced senescence.

Evidence

Human bronchial epithelial cell experiments, targeted metabolomics, perturbation studies, and COVID pneumonia single-cell dataset re-analysis linked CDC6 signaling to MYC, ODC1, putrescine levels, TP53 accumulation, and senescence markers.

Caveat

The findings come mainly from induced cell models with correlative patient dataset re-analysis, so disease-level causality and therapeutic relevance remain unproven.
