PYY3-36 may enhance Semaglutide's effects on energy control in fatty liver disease

Updated

Abstract

Obese rats were used to investigate the effects of the GLP-1 receptor agonist semaglutide and the NPY 2 receptor agonist PYY3-36 on liver mitochondria.

  • The study examined mitochondrial oxygen consumption in liver cells.
  • Reactive oxygen species (ROS) emission from liver mitochondria was measured.
  • Incretins may have distinct impacts on mitochondrial function in the context of metabolic liver disease.
  • The mechanisms by which incretins affect liver metabolism remain unclear.
