Qiteng Xiaozhuo Granules may improve chronic kidney inflammation by boosting cell cleanup through a specific gene modification

Updated

Abstract

Qiteng Xiaozhuo Granules (QTXZG) promotes autophagy in glomerular mesangial cells, which may alleviate chronic glomerulonephritis.

  • FTO overexpression in mice was shown to enhance renal function and reduce pathological damage in chronic glomerulonephritis.
  • Increased FTO activity is associated with the promotion of autophagy in glomerular mesangial cells.
  • FTO overexpression lowers the m6A modification of the SLC7A5 gene, which plays a role in the autophagy process.
  • QTXZG treatment is linked to the activation of autophagy through the FTO-mediated signaling pathway involving SLC7A5.
  • Molecular dynamics simulations confirmed that active components of QTXZG have a strong binding affinity to the FTO protein.
