Essence

Rapamycin and chloroquine had opposite tradeoffs in an early MASLD mouse model, separating liver steatosis effects from metabolic effects.

Evidence

This short-term high-fat/high-cholesterol diet mouse experiment compared rapamycin and chloroquine effects on body and liver weight, lipid genes, inflammatory markers, fibrosis markers, and hepatic steatosis.

Caveat

The findings come from an early, short-term mouse model and show paradoxical harms alongside benefits for both drugs.
