Abstract

Concerns have been raised regarding the suitability of antibodies used in the western blot analysis.

  • The antibody with catalogue number ab51243 is not specific for p16-INK4a, but for a different protein, p16-ARC.
  • The anti-β-galactosidase antibody (cat. no. ab9361) is specific for a bacterial protein and is distantly related to human β-galactosidase.
  • Neither antibody is the closest homologue to their respective proteins in the human proteome.
  • An Expression of Concern has been issued while the Editorial Office investigates the use of these antibodies.
