Resveratrol reduces brain inflammation and gut-brain problems caused by lead and cadmium exposure by changing gut bacteria in rats

Updated

Abstract

Essence

Resveratrol attenuated lead-cadmium-associated neurotoxicity in rats alongside improvements in gut-brain axis markers.

Evidence

A randomized rat experiment tested 10, 20, or 40 mg/kg resveratrol during 4 weeks of Pb-Cd drinking-water co-exposure using behavioral, barrier, microbiota, SCFA, cytokine, neurotransmitter, and synaptic endpoints.

Caveat

The findings come from a preclinical co-exposure model with mechanistic marker readouts, so they do not establish human protection or clinical dosing.
