Resveratrol supplements and their impact on obesity measures: an overview of intervention studies
Updated
Abstract
Essence
Resveratrol supplementation was linked to small reductions in body weight, BMI, waist circumference, and body fat in obesity-related intervention meta-analyses.
Evidence
This umbrella review synthesized 18 interventional meta-analyses and found small pooled improvements versus control, including -0.18 kg body weight, -0.14 kg/m BMI, -0.43 cm waist circumference, and -0.3 kg body fat.
Caveat
The effects were small and reached statistical significance only in subgroups using doses above 400 mg/day and interventions longer than 12 weeks.
