COVID-19 mRNA Vaccines Linked to Lower Immune Cell Death in Patients with Solid Tumors

Abstract

Patients with solid tumors undergoing active treatment demonstrated a median anti-spike IgG level of 988.69 BAU/mL after two doses of SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccines.

  • Vaccination resulted in 97.44% seropositivity and 96.88% true seroconversion among patients who were initially IgG-/NAb-.
  • Strong neutralizing antibody activity was observed, with a median level of 85.73%.
  • Hematological parameters and interleukin-6 levels remained stable, indicating no significant systemic inflammation during the study.
  • A reduction in peripheral CD19+ B-cell frequencies and decreased early apoptosis was noted, particularly in CD8+ T cells and CD3+CD56+ NKT-like cells.
  • Changes in T-cell frequencies and differentiation profiles were observed but should be interpreted cautiously due to potential prior SARS-CoV-2 exposure among participants.
