Saxagliptin with Liraglutide versus Saxagliptin Alone and Their Effects on Inflammation and Fat Hormones in Obese Type 2 Diabetes Patients Not Responding Well to Metformin

Updated

Abstract

A total of 116 eligible patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus were evaluated for treatment responses.

  • Saxagliptin combined with liraglutide is associated with improvements in glycemic control, lipid metabolism, and insulin resistance.
  • The combination treatment shows greater reductions in inflammatory markers compared to saxagliptin monotherapy.
  • More favorable modulation of adipokine profiles is observed with the combination regimen.
  • Both treatment regimens maintain a comparable safety profile.
