69.0% of secondary school children attended school lunch at least once a week.

  • Pre- and elementary school children who attended school lunches had a higher dietary diversity score.
  • These younger children also snacked more frequently.
  • Secondary school children attending school lunches skipped breakfast and main meals less often.
  • Overall, school lunch attendance was associated with healthier eating habits across all school children.
  • School lunch attendance was linked to reduced sedentary behaviour in children.
