Using semaglutide as an additional treatment for patients with adult-onset autoimmune diabetes

Updated

Abstract

Of the 80 patients with latent autoimmune diabetes in adults (LADA), 68 continued semaglutide treatment for at least 6 months.

  • Significant reductions in HbA1c, body-mass index (BMI), and total daily insulin dose were observed after 6 months of semaglutide use.
  • Serum C-peptide levels and time-in-range values increased, while time-below-range remained unchanged.
  • Patients with preserved β-cell function experienced a greater reduction in BMI and insulin dose.
  • Improvements in time-in-range were more pronounced in subjects with higher C-peptide production.
  • 14 out of 68 subjects no longer required insulin bolus administration after starting semaglutide.
