How Semaglutide, Liraglutide, and Efinopegdutide Compare for Weight Loss in Obese Patients

Updated

Abstract

Semaglutide resulted in a greater mean weight loss compared to liraglutide in patients with obesity.

  • Direct comparative studies were analyzed for semaglutide, liraglutide, and efinopegdutide in patients with obesity.
  • A meta-analysis indicated that semaglutide produced a greater weight loss effect than liraglutide.
  • No significant difference in weight loss was found between semaglutide and efinopegdutide.
  • All three medications were well-tolerated, with primarily minimal to moderate gastrointestinal adverse effects.
  • Further research is needed to compare GLP-1 RAs and emerging medications for long-term efficacy and safety.
