Early Real-World Results of Semaglutide for Obesity Beyond Just Weight Loss

Abstract

At 3 months, body weight decreased by a median 8.0 kg in 37 patients treated with Semaglutide.

  • Body mass index (BMI) decreased by 1.6 kg/m² during the same period.
  • Body fat percentage reduced from 43.4% to 42.8%.
  • A small decrease in skeletal muscle mass of -0.6 kg was observed.
  • Fasting glucose levels improved, and insulin resistance, as measured by HOMA-IR, fell significantly.
  • No significant changes were noted in total cholesterol, LDL-C, HDL-C, liver enzymes, creatinine, uric acid, or 25-OH vitamin D.
