'This Is My Decision': People’s Views on Using Semaglutide for Weight Loss

Updated

Abstract

Seven individuals using semaglutide for weight loss shared significant insights into their experiences and treatment management.

  • Most participants viewed semaglutide as a life-changing treatment in the context of their struggles with overweight and health concerns.
  • Participants expressed strong autonomy in managing their treatment, often delaying dose increases or adjusting doses by 'counting clicks'.
  • Three main themes emerged from the interviews: feeling out of options, having supportive healthcare providers, and experiencing a sense of normalcy.
  • There is a suggested need for enhanced support from healthcare professionals regarding dosing, monitoring, and managing side effects.
  • Further qualitative research is needed to better understand the perspectives of individuals using semaglutide for weight loss.
