Serotonin's influence on brain gamma waves: psilocin's stronger effects on right-side hearing responses in rats

Updated

Abstract

Essence

Psilocin selectively disrupted right temporal 40 Hz auditory phase-locking in male rats.

Evidence

This preclinical EEG experiment tested eight adult male Wistar rats with cortical electrodes before and 30 minutes after subcutaneous psilocin during 40 Hz and 80 Hz auditory stimulation.

Caveat

The findings are limited to a small male rat model and do not establish human psychiatric biomarker performance.
