A total of 38 sex-specific biological aging clocks were developed across 15 organ systems.

  • Genetic factors indicate organ-specific aging risks and their relationships to various health traits differ by sex.
  • Distinct networks related to synaptic, immune, vascular, and metabolic processes track biological aging differently in males and females.
  • Sex-specific aging clocks predict systemic diseases and all-cause mortality in a manner that is dependent on both sex and organ.
  • Sex-dependent links were found between brain aging and cognitive decline in a preclinical Alzheimer's disease trial.
