Different immune reactions to two SFTSV mRNA vaccines in mice and dogs

Updated

Abstract

In mice, the Gn mRNA vaccine induced higher neutralizing antibody titers than the Gc vaccine.

  • Both Gn and Gc mRNA vaccines provided complete protection against lethal SFTSV challenge in mice with a blocked immune response.
  • The Gn mRNA vaccine produced stronger cellular immune responses compared to the Gc vaccine in mice.
  • In dogs, the Gc mRNA vaccine generated significantly higher neutralizing antibody titers than the Gn vaccine.
  • Both vaccines demonstrated comparable safety profiles in dogs.
  • The differences in immune response between species highlight the need for host-specific considerations in vaccine development.
