Abstract

Sodium-glucose co-transporter-2 (SGLT-2) inhibitors and glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs) are increasingly recommended for diabetes complicated by cardiovascular and chronic kidney diseases.

  • The global burden of diabetes is worsened by complications involving cardiovascular diseases and chronic kidney diseases.
  • There is limited understanding of the availability and treatment costs of SGLT-2 inhibitors and GLP-1 RAs across various income levels.
  • Affordability of these treatments may vary significantly between countries.
