Common genetic factors linked to differences in brain aging across 30 groups worldwide

Updated

Abstract

Essence

Different brain age gap models appeared to share a substantial genetic signal tied to brain and health traits.

Evidence

This was a genetic association and genomic structural equation modeling analysis combining a new BAG GWAS of 60,735 people across 29 cohorts with five prior BAG GWASs, covering 30 cohorts overall.

Caveat

The findings depend on GWAS-derived brain age gap constructs and genetic modeling, so they identify shared liability and putative causal links rather than directly measuring clinical brain health changes.
