SLE patients exhibited significantly shorter telomeres with a median length of 0.80 compared to 1.07 in healthy controls.

  • Moderate anxiety is linked to shorter telomere length in SLE patients, suggesting a potential psychological impact on cellular aging.
  • Moderate stress is also correlated with reduced telomere length, indicating that mental health factors may influence biological aging.
  • No significant relationships were observed between telomere length and disease activity or cumulative damage in SLE patients.
