Only 66.9% of Italian children aged 1-14 years achieve recommended sleep duration.

  • Total sleep duration and the number of awakenings decrease with age.
  • Only 50% of children aged 10-14 years meet sleep duration recommendations.
  • Video device use before sleep is associated with a decrease in sleep duration by 0.25 hours.
  • Optimal sleep is less likely in children with bedroom TVs, sleeping disorders in infancy, and those who use bottles at bedtime.
  • Higher maternal education levels are associated with better sleep outcomes in children.
