Food insecurity within economic instability and poorer social/community context were associated with higher odds of pediatric long COVID in the US.

Evidence

This cross-sectional analysis of a multicenter longitudinal meta-cohort included 4584 infected school-aged children and adolescents recruited across 52 US sites.

Caveat

Long COVID was caregiver-reported using symptom-based research indices, and the cross-sectional analysis cannot show whether changing social determinants would reduce long COVID risk.
